|The ANSI IWCA I-14.1-2001 Window Cleaning Safety Standard was developed by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) in concert with the International Window Cleaning Association (IWCA). The standard was created to provide a safe environment for building owners, tenants/visitors, and workers.This standard assists property owners to establish and maintain a safe workplace for contractors using suspended access equipment, i.e., window cleaners, glazers, waterproofers, etc. by complying with the “I-14, the property owners have done their part in providing a safe workplace environment.Since the publishing of the “I-14″, inadequate anchorage for contractors using suspended access equipment is now a “recognized hazard.” In the event of a mishap and the inevitable litigation, the most frequent asked and crucial questions are the following: What was done to prevent the accident?
